What are some of the major limitations of GenAI?:

Using generative A.I. as a teacher, is parallel to throwing out a moldy container or something that can be recycled so you dont have to wash it out. Ya, it’s easier, and you don’t have to think about it after if you don’t want to because isolated it’s not that bad..but that doesn’t make it ethical.

Now, I’m a pretty logical person, I understand it’s a way to combat teacher burn out, but the point of having a strong PLN is that you can share lesson plans when you’re run down, out of ideas, or need support. Of course students will use A.I. when they can get away with it, it gets them out of thinking and avoids any stuck-ness they might encounter, but as teachers we have a responsibility to model that it is better to abstain, and leave A.I. use to scientists and medial professionals.

What are some of the issues around the responsible use of GenAI in education including, the environment, property rights, and learning-related issues?:

The main issue, is that A.I. cannot ethically be used in a school setting even if the intention or created outcome is positive. This is due both to environmental reasons, and how unregulated the use of A.I. is, generative A.I. (in my opinion) should actually be inaccessible on school wifi networks. Several young student have committed suicide due to A.I. and chatbots prompting their suicidal ideation and telling the kids that death will offer them peace. A.I. has also been used to make fake pornography of students as well as allow stalkers to create fake relationships through A.I. with their victims.

This is a Youtube video of Hank Green giving nuanced info on how A.I. uses water.
